INTERNATIONAL NETWORK ON SOIL POLLUTION

INVITATION TO JOIN THE LAUNCH EVENT

22 APRIL 2022 | 12:00-15:00 CEST | ONLINE (ZOOM)

Soil pollution may be invisible to the human eye, but it limits a soil's capacity to produce safe and nutritious food and the provision of essential ecosystem services.
On 22 April 2022 from 12:00 to 15:00 CEST, as part of FAO’s observance of International Mother Earth Day, FAO's Global Soil Partnership is pleased to invite you to the launch event of the International Network on Soil Pollution "Channelling collective actions towards Zero Pollution" to be held online on the Zoom platform.

AGENDA

The 3-hour meeting will open with a panel to set the scene and will continue with technical sessions introducing the International Network on Soil Pollution (INSOP), and defining its objectives, governance, and priority activities.

OPENING REMARKS

Mr Lifeng Li, Director of FAO's Land and Water Division will open the event. Mr Ronald Vargas, FAO Global Soil Partnership Secretary, and Mr Joachim D’Eugenio, European Commission, will set the scene, explaining the need to create an International Network on Soil Pollution and presenting some of the current efforts underway to achieve a pollution-free world.
Ms Natalia Rodríguez, FAO-GSP Secretariat, will moderate the framing of INSOP among the main initiatives dedicated to soil pollution and indicate future opportunities for cooperation, while Mr Sergejus Ustinov, FAO-GSP Secretariat, will present INSOP’s vision, mission and objectives.
