LATE PLEISTOCENE HISTORY RECONSTRUCTION BASED
ON THE MASSIVE GROUND ICE ORIGIN IN THE ARCTIC COASTAL ZONE.
Massive ground ice database is under
compilation in HTML format, which gives the opportunity to browse it using any
JAVA -browsers. So it can be used at any PC. Encarta Interactive World Atlas
2001 was used as an index map for positioning the sites covered by data
(publication).
Arctic
zone of this map is subdivided into 12 polygons / regions. Borders of polygons
are line convenient for PC usage. User choosing one of the polygons according
to his regional interests, find a separate sheet linked through the point on
the map with the list of references, relevant to this point (having more or
less the same geographical coordinates ). Reference ends with a numbers of key
worlds. In additions to reference database contains abstract to some reference,
published table and figure with information on morphology, morphometry,
chemical composition of ice and enclosing deposits, isotope composition of ice.
Figures (scanned in one of easy – accessible format) present geological
sections and graphs. Brows through other map sheets can be done without
returning to the main map. The study presented was supported by INTAS, grant
#97-0484.
